One of Tom’s heroes growing up was Knute Rockne as portrayed on screen by Pat O’Brien, so Pat became a double hero. In 1971 Tom and Delores bought a house in Brentwood, CA, that had been built by O’Brien (modeled after Tara in Gone with the Wind). Then in 1976, Tom cast his hero to star as the Vice President in Billy Jack Goes to Washington, a remake of the James Stewart, Frank Capra classic Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. Tom had never been more nervous as a director than the days he directed his idol.
pat o’brian was good in knute rockne but his roll in this movie was more historicaly significant for its true depiction of real polititians and their manipulations and corruptions in the government. now that done, its up to us to vote these f,ers out of office and when they get caught up in their ,read my lips, schemes demand their impeachments, and jail the crooks.
